How does browser fingerprinting work?

Our Phishing product uses Javascript to determine the version in use on the user’s device. This is usually transparent to the user. In some specific cases some other may display a pop-up Java message (depending on how the device is configured) alerting the user that the web site is attempting to run a Java applet.
