Question
Why am I seeing 3rd party logos in Phishing Templates? I was under the impression that you did not use other companies logos in your products. What has changed?
Answer
Proofpoint's legal team has a different view on the risk to the organization with regard to the use of third party brands in our security education solutions. We now believe that the use of these brands is covered by the Fair Use Act and doesn't infringe on the rights of the brand owner.
This has been a common request of our prospects and customers so we decided to allow the use of brands in our Phishing product. As the Proofpoint Threat Response team identifies the most active and relevant threats in the wild we will add these to the Phishing product for use in simulations. If those threats use real brands we will persist these brands inside phishing templates so that they can be as realistic as possible.
This is only for Phishing and is currently not available in our training modules.
