Situation:

When logging in to your organization or any org if you are an MSP you will be fronted with a DASHBOARD display which provides statistics and information on different types of threads. There is display that does show of "Connection Blocked" but exactly is its mean and what does it represent.

Solution:

The value "Connections Blocked" is the percentage of connections blocked at ProofPoint Essentials reputation system on each stack. Below shows the image and details of this information. The value Connections Blocked is the percent of connections blocked at our Essentials front door per Stack. That means this statistic includes the percentage of blocked connections for ALL customers on a particular stack (US1, US2, US3, etc.) and not only for the specific account you may be looking at. The two sources we have for block list are Proofpoint Dynamic Reputation (PDR) and Cloudmark Sender Intelligence (CSI). Proofpoint Essentials utilizes PDR & CSI for inbound email. IPs listed will block any message prior to delivery. If you wish to learn more about Cloudmark you can read more about it with these links what is Cloudmark and how to remove IP addresses from Cloudmark
