Please note that modusMail and ModusGate 6.8 are now currently available from my.vircom.com.

Have your license key handy when you go to the my.vircom.com page to be able to grab your version.

This is an important upgrade because as of January 1st 2023, AVIRA will no longer support the 32 bit version of their virus scanner.

Version 6.8 deploys a 64 bit version of the Avira scanning service as well as introduces a few bug fixes and security updates to the platform.

We strongly suggest that you upgrade to version 6.8 before the deadline since you will _not_ get any virus filtering updates after Jan 1st once the EOL happens to the 32 bit version of the engine.

If you're upgrading from any version of 6.X of modusGate/modusMail - it shouldn't be an issue, you download the installer and run it.

However if you'd like an assist for the upgrade, let us know and we can do a scheduled upgrade as a professional service (billable).

If you're running modus on a virtual machine, it's always good to do a snapshot prior to upgrading.

If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to reach out to us.

PS:  If you do plan on moving to the cloud at some point, like Office365, we also provide Proofpoint Essentials as an Email security platform.

IMPORTANT:
[ Applies only to modusGate, not modusMail ]

We have seen cases where a client's message log encountered a bug with the logging where the messages would all be marked as "pending scan" even though they were processed properly and did not change state in the message log.  If you have this symptom in the web admin console (ie: https://yourdomain.com/admin) -- Here's the workaround:

stop all the modusGate services
rename bcrypt.dll in root modus folder to bcrypt.bad (c:\program files (x86)\vircom\modusgate)
copy c:\windows\syswow64\bcrypt.dll to modus folder
start all the modusGate services

Seems the DLL we included with the package doesn't play nice with Windows 2016 or above so just use the native package of the operating system.
